Shillong

Shillong, the capital of the northeastern state of Meghalaya, is positioned at a height of 4,908 feet above sea level. Aptly referred to as “Scotland of the East”, Shillong boasts mesmerizing vistas, hills that run in circles, waterfalls that require walks through lush green forests, mountaintops that double as picnic spots, and courteous locals (that majorly belong to the ‘Khasi’ tribe) who love their share of rock music, football and authentic northeast cuisine. Shillong also acts as the headquarters of the Eastern Air Command, Indian Air Force. With pleasant weather throughout the year, Shillong is a mostly pollution-free spot that offers respite for tourists looking to take a break from their crowded, busy city life.
