Tirupati

Tirupati is a small city in Andhra Pradesh and is also the holy abode of the world-famous Vaishnavite shrine, Thirumala Venkateshwara Temple. This temple has an 8-feet tall statue of Lord Vishnu, also called as Balaji or Govinda, and is spread over a sprawling 26km area. It is thronged by millions of pilgrims regularly who come to pay obeisance to the Lord. The temple history can be dated back to the era of Pallavas, Cholas and the Vijayanagar Empire, and the inscriptions on the walls of this sacred temples bespeak the same. Tirupati also includes numerous other temples like Sri Kalahasthi, Sri Varahaswami Temple, Sri Bedi Anjeneyaswami Temple and more that are visited by pilgrims from all across the world.
